Jason Phillips

Hello My Name Is...

Mr. Phillips

Choral Director, Drama, Director, Music Teacher

My name is Mr. Phillips, and I have been in education for 12 years.  Before becoming a public school teacher, I worked as a private voice and piano instructor at Summit Studios and also taught privately.  I also ran a youth choir at St. Paul’s in Glastonbury and music directed for East Granby Summer Theatre.   After concluding my Music Education program through the University of Connecticut, I began my career in Willington, and have remained here for the past nine years.  I recently finished my Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership with a 4.0 GPA from Lincoln Christian University.  I am grateful to be here and learn from your children.

In my spare time I perform around the state as a community theatre performer in Windham, Colchester, Suffield, and other places.  I also music direct for Ellington High Schools musicals and have music directed at Chestnut Street Playhouse in Norwich as well as EHSYF in East Hartford.  I have also recently run a music theatre class through Grossi Dance Academy of the Performing Arts.  I accompany around the state either for shows or local churches.

As an educator, these are some of my core beliefs:

  • I believe that all students can achieve if they believe in themselves.
  • I believe that learning is a dual process for teachers and students where teachers are constantly learning.

I take my job as an educator very seriously and I spend every day trying to be better. I know that teaching is a learning process, and I believe that if I ever felt that I could not do anymore to improve, then it is time for me to retire or find a new career.
